I am surprised, but there is 3G all over the Khumbu valley ! So, I’ll give you a little update on what has been going on the last few days:
We started off in Kathmandu on Friday: as usual, chaos all over place in the domestic terminal.
After a 3,5 hour wait we took the infamous flight to Lukla, one of the most dangerous airstrips in the world. The flight was quite bumpy and everybody was relieved we touched down safely. High fives were shared and after a quick lunch we headed to Phakding at approx. 2840m.
The next day, weather started to deteriorate and we ended in Namche Bazar after 7 hours, the capital of the Sherpa people. Everybody is feeling fine, we are eating like mad and spirits are high. I have never been so happy with a fresh apple. Namche is at 3440m, so this is an important part of the acclimatization circle. We were supposed to stay here for 2 nights, but this is our 3th day here. Weather has been so bad, we could not move to a higher village. There is 1,5 meters snow at Ama Dablam basecamp and we are uncertain about our attempt on Lobuche East.
The plan is to go to Debuche tomorrow and stay 2 nights at Dingbuche at 4300m. We’ll head up to Lobuche basecamp after that, but planning is uncertain for now.
Better weather is coming up tomorrow and we are staying positive. Send us some good vibes.
Internet will be over from tomorrow on, but I’ll try to update my Twitter. I’ll have my first shower in a couple hours, so that should be good…:)
